Hi, and welcome to Hacker's Workbench. This is a website where I will publish my electronics/robotics projects. I also have a YouTube channel where I upload videos occasionally. Hopefully this website will be an interesting read to all those makers, hackers, and electronic hobbyists out there!

I recently got my Technician Class ham radio license. Call sign KD0NXG. I've been looking around for a decent VHF or UHF rig. If you have a suggestion on what to get, I would love to hear it in the comments below.

Teach Yourself Electricity and Electronics - Short Book Review

posted Oct 12, 2010 5:16 AM by William Arthur   [ updated Feb 1, 2011 10:58 AM ]

I thought I might as well do a short book review of this book. The author (Stan Gibilisco) really does a good job of explaining the basics of electronics. It covers a wide range of topics, everything from inductance and capacitance to vacuum tubes, to radiolocation. I've found this book to be great reference material if I just want to look something up quick during a project. And of course since this is a self-teaching book there is a quiz after each chapter. Overall this is an excellent book if you're just getting started with electronics or want to brush up on some theory. One downfall is that Stan doesn't always go into the greatest depth of explaining some things. Thumbs up for this book from the Hacker's Workbench!
